Sometimes things can get rough, and the economy makes it very difficult to not only land a great job, but to keep hold of the one you already have.
There are things however that you can do to make yourself ultra valuable within your organization, to allow you to whether any economic storm, and allow you the opportunity to stay within your company.
1. Arrive early, stay late.
This certainly shows that you are dedicated to your work, and tells your boss, you are serious about your performance. Make sure your door is left wide open so your manager can tell when you are burning the midnight oil.
2. Save the company lots of money.
There are many expenses in a business, but those expenses, especially the pricey ones, can cut into the bottom line of a an organization. Find ways to get the company to save money, and that will go a long way to making yourself look like you are on top of things.
3. Avoid the soap operas.
Drama exists no matter where you go, and no matter what company you work for. But this can get you in trouble if you let it pull you in. Say no to the dramas of the work place and make yourself one that stays positive and contributes to the company in a productive manner.
4. Keep on learning.
If there are opportunities to improve your knowledge, skill level, and abilities in the work place – take it! The more training and experiences you have under your belt, the better you not only become, but the more valuable you are to your manager and your company. Check to see if the company you work at has any incentive programs to take any courses, you never know, they may even pay for them.
5. Be part of the team.
There is no question that you have to be able to work well with others in your company. People are different, so you must adapt to the different personalities individually. Be kind and respectful to each coworker, and make them love you, and respect you back. That way everyone is happy, and the work can be done without any hassles.
