Engineering Manager

We are looking for an organized individual with a ‘can-do’ attitude, a passion for troubleshooting and natural leadership skills.

Job Description

This hands on role will have you responsible for guiding and building the engineering and software development team…you’ll ultimately be leading the process from concept through to efficient production.  Natural leadership ability is a must with a real hands on approach to achieving optimum results.

Main responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • All aspects of the design, engineering, costing, prototyping, and troubleshooting
  • Liaising with all management groups and contributing to growth, staffing and productivity meetings
  • Responsible for job planning, quality production, and functional excellence across multiple projects
  • Involvement in the processes of design, and continuous development of equipment and people on the engineering team
  • Assessing, recruiting, training and mentoring of staff…providing performance reviews and feedback
  • Maintain up-to-date engineering knowledge and stay current with industry trends and best practices
  • Develop and implement consistent department procedures, evaluate process methods for improvement. Anticipate, investigate, and evaluate future process needs
  • Actively drives a strong safety culture, ensuring all policies and procedures are followed

The company will expect from you:

  • 5+ years leading a multi-disciplined research and development team, and involvement in process/production
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineer, PEng an asset
  • Software Development management experience is necessary
  • Proven record of bringing innovative new products to market on-time and within budget
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills, with a strong inclination to team and product development
  • Outstanding communication skills and a proven record of leading and motivating teams of engineers and programmers
  • Goal-oriented mindset capable of running multiple projects and thriving under pressure
  • Curiosity, creativity and willingness to challenge the status quo
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • A hands-on management style, flexible mindset with a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude
