Located in the Southern Chilcotin Mountains Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa, we are a unique operation catering to adventure recreationalists and travelers to BC throughout all seasons. Recently renovation, we continue to invest in the infrastructure, the range of products available, and the high level of service offered.

We are looking for an outdoor enthusiast with a passion for the kitchen.  We encourage all staff to actively take part in the activities that we promote, including extensive mountain biking, hiking, boating, horseback riding, skiing, snowboarding and more.  Reporting to the Lodge General Manager, the Executive Chef will manage all aspect of the resort’s kitchen and dining facilities and will coordinate menus and meal preparation for special events such as weddings, and private groups.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning and directing food preparation and cooking
  • Developing menus and recipes in accordance with management’s vision
  • Training chefs and cooks to prepare menus
  • Supervising all activities of  chefs and cooks
  • Instructing cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
  • Ensuring that food meets highest standard of quality and that kitchen is maintained in accordance with all health and safety regulations
  • Estimating food requirements in order to oversee food requisitioning adhering to the company purchasing policy
  • Optimize profits through effective planning and cost controls
  • Working with Food & Beverage Manager to reduce and report on food and labor costs
  • Working with Food & Beverage Manager to recruit and hire staff
  • Be responsible for all company property, including products, equipment, fixtures and real property

  • Supervision of staff
  • Policy and procedure development and implementation background
  • Hotel management systems background
